This just my own interpretation of modern - ancient concepts. This was actually inspired by the movie “Transformers” where the robots are searching for the “all spark”—the cube.
This was done in autodesk maya 2011, a simple model of cube then modified to a complex version where the cube appears to have a protective outline sheet of metal. The Bumpmaps are applied as well and i chose ancient type of rock / wood kinds of colors to create the setting itself. The fallen pillars at the background with unknown markings, the ground from a higher land, and then the floating relic.
Nothin special with the rendering, just Vray for Maya, vray sun and the camera chosen was attributed with a vray physical camera. Normal ISO setting, no depth of field (DOF was adjusted in Adobe PS)
Photoshop did a great job for me, especially when it comes to my color management, few tweaks on the Hue / Saturation control, then more upon refining what the temperature would be. Color dodge brush, skyblue in particular, helps me create the power generated by the relic towards the sky. I have attempted to use smudge tool in order to give it a wavy motion to its force, but i was not satisfied to its result, so i decided not to use the smudge tool. To show depth, i use blur for the background; then i flatten things up, applied radial blur (spin) just to create circular, pulsing motion from the relic.
Please comment on how can I improve in compositing, or any part of my workflow, because I am not that as good as anyone, yet, not stopping to practice and improve my works. Thankyou so much.
